Summary:
This white paper sets out the Government's proposals for reform of the planning system. It builds on recommendations from the Barker Review of Land Use Planning and the Eddington Transport Study and aims to improve speed, responsiveness and efficiency in land use planning. It proposes reforms on how decisions are taken on nationally significant infrastructure projects, including energy, waste, waste-water and transport. It also proposes further reforms to the town and country planning system, building on recent improvements to make it more efficient and more responsive. This page also links to a summary of the key proposals in the white paper.
